Wheatgrass Facts

Scientific analysis has demonstrated that wheatgrass is a perfectly complete food in itself, capable of sustaining life in a healthy way. Dr. G.H Earp Thomas, a soil expert at the Bloomfield Laboratories in Massachusetts, isolated over 100 elements, including all the known minerals, from wheat grass. His calculations indicate that 15lbs of fresh wheat grass is equivalent in nutritional value to 350lbs of choicest vegetables.

Studies have shown that wheat grass is an excellent source of vitamins A, B, C, E and K, as well as calcium, chlorine, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, sulphur, cobalt and zinc.

Further, the chemical structure of the chlorophyll molecule in wheat grass reveals that it is remarkably adapted to utilisation by the human blood stream, by virtue of its similarity to the hemin molecule of haemoglobin (haemoglobin is one of the major components of our blood). These two molecules are essentially identical with the exception of the central atom which is magnesium in the case of chlorophyll and iron in the case of hemin. Thus we can see that within the context of this optimal and easily-assimilated and utilised nourishment, the human body has the fundamental components with which to eliminate disease and regenerate itself.

This healing process occurs as the therapeutic chlorophyll in wheat grass juice catalyses the elimination of the stored toxins which cause disease. These toxins are present in the ailing organism in the form of hardened mucous, crystallised acids, fatty deposits, calcifications and solidified, decaying fecal matter.

All in all, wheat grass juice is a potent food/medicine that has many uses.

Growing Wheatgrass

1. Soak organic seeds in cold water for 12 hours (overnight)
2. Rest seeds for 12 hours drain in suitable container (large jar perhaps with open mesh lid) or in sprouting bag.
3. Give 5-minute drink before sowing.
4. Sow in organic soil, press seeds down firmly so they can make contact with mother earth (organic soil) and form a thick carpet.
5. Cover with 4-8 layers of soaking wet newspaper or wet cheesecloth.
6. To prevent seed coming in contact with newspaper it's best to use a thin layer of wet paper towels.
7. In 4 days the wheat sprout will lift the top cover.
8. Remove the cover, wet thoroughly ( but allow to drain ) and relocate somewhere warm and sunny (only morning sun )
9. 7-10 days the grass will be 12-15cm high and ready to be harvested.
10. Cut as close to the base as possible.
11. Juice, drink and enjoy feeling very alive.
