Have you ever picked up the pulp that has come out of your juicer and squeezed it?  Ever notice that its still wet?

Many juicers today are  built for speed, ease of cleaning and the ability to juice a wide variety of produce.  Unfortunately, they do not always extract all the juice out of the produce, and can leave juice in the pulp.

Here are some average figures on how much juice may be left in the pulp: oscar juicer for wheatgrass , green power and samson juicer

Luckily, if you own a masticating, single auger, or twin gear juicer, you can run the pulp back through the machine for further extraction, and will get a higher yield.  This can be done multiple times, although there is a point of diminishing returns.

If you own a Centrifugal or Centrifugal Ejection, the pulp will not effectively be juiced if you run it back through the machine.

With a manual press, you can press out the remaining juice out of the pulp.  The resulting pulp will be very dry.

In my test, I used a centrifugal ejection juicer to juice 2 pounds of Bunny Luv organic baby carrots (approx. $3.00).  This juicer produced a little over 16 ounces of juice.  This is about the average yield when juicing carrots.    I would think of it as an acceptable yield for an ejection juicer. healthstart infrared saunas

Taking the pulp created by the Lequip mini,I placed it into the press bags, and pressed it with  .  It took about 6 individual pressing sessions to press all the pulp. oscar juicer for wheatgrass , green power and samson juicer

I was rewarded with 6 ounces of pure juice (no pulp - very smooth and tastes great!).  My favorite juice has always been pressed juice.  According to my calculations, this is 37.5% more juice!   Keep in mind for something like fruits, this figure would be much more, since most fruits (especially softer ones - such as berries) don't yield too much in conventional electric juicers.

Calculating the carrots were approx. $3.00. (Please note: my cost for the carrots were high, since I was using baby organic carrots, instead of normal carrots, which are about 1/2 the cost.)   It would make my cost and savings as follows:

Given the chart above, you can see, I would have been "throwing away" $1.72 in juice based on the .1875 cents an ounce.  When factoring in the extra juice extracted from the pulp, it lowers the overall cost to .1363 cents an ounce. 

I hope you have learned about how much money (and extra juice) you may be throwing away after every juicing session.  Jeez..  I wish I had this press when I first started juicing...  I was juicing 5 pounds of carrots a day!!   Think of all that extra juice!

Hopefully this web page will educate you about some of the "lower cost" juicers that are available.

All of the low cost juicers listed below are centrifugal ejection juicers.  They produce juice by first shredding the produce that is placed into the juicer, next the small shreds and juice that is released is centrifuged into a screen where the juice passes through the  screen, and the pulp is   "ejected" into a pulp collection bin.  This is where the similarities  on the low end juicers end.  The main factors to consider on some of the lower cost juicers:

• Power of motor - many lower cost juicers have really weak (under powered in our opinion) that will not last for someone that is serious about juicing.

• Warranty - Many "inexpensive" juicers may only have a 90 day or even 1 year warranty.  We feel this is just too short.  We prefer juicers with at minimum 3 year warranty or longer.  We believe a juicer should be an INVESTMENT, and like any investment, should last. oscar juicer for wheatgrass , green power and samson juicer

• The quality of the machine - many of the "lesser priced" juicers are manufactured of mostly plastic.  We prefer ones with stainless steel construction.  Plastic will tend to stain over time, and carrots have a nice pigment (carotene) that tends to turn plastic orange.

Why don't you sell the lower priced juicers around $50? 

We have used many centrifugal ejection juicers.  We choose to offer the finest quality juicers to our customers.  We do not sell "department" store juicers, just so that we can sell every "price point".  We feel many juicers are "under powered" and will not last.   Instead, we choose to sell products that may cost a bit more, but will last longer and can handle the task of daily juicing. oscar juicer for wheatgrass , green power and samson juicer

Is it really worth spending $100 on a juicer? I was set on spending $50 for a juicer at a local department/discount store.

In my opinion, YES!  I can say that juicing HAS changed my life.  It was my first step in becoming healthier by lifestyle changes.  Many of our customers report weight loss, more energy and just "feeling better" after drinking FRESHLY made juices on a daily basis.  If you purchase a "cheap" machine now, and it breaks in 1.5 years (when it will be out of warranty),  you will need to spend another $50 on a juicer..  If you invest in a , if it breaks down anytime during 6 years, it will be covered under warranty.   This alone in my opinion justifies the extra cost of the machine.  Many stores try to sell "extended" warranties.. We all know how much they cost...  Just purchase a juicer with a long warranty in the first place, and don't worry about the expensive extended warranty.  Generally juicers with longer warranties are built better, thus the long warranty to back it up.

Many "department/discount" store juicers have a really low wattage and horsepower, so are "under powered" and tend not to yield the highest quantity of juice.
